INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Construction is beginning on the first phase of the Inglewood Transit Connector, a major attempt to make it easier to reach entertainment venues without driving through residential streets. On October 22, 2026, city officials announced groundbreaking on an approximately $250 million first phase near the Downtown Inglewood Metro K Line station.

What is in the initial phase?

According to the city, the work includes three mobility hubs, a pedestrian bridge connecting to the Metro K Line and reconstruction of portions of the downtown streetscape. The project seeks to shift some event-day parking and access demands toward coordinated transit connections.

When will residents notice construction?

The city says construction is expected to start in November 2026 and run through spring 2028. Roadway work is planned mostly at night and block by block, with business access maintained. These are announced plans; specific lane restrictions, work hours and detours may change and should be checked against later project notices.

Jobs and business impacts

Inglewood says the construction phase is covered by a Community Workforce Agreement that targets local hiring and apprenticeships and includes a 20% small and local business goal. Officials also report relocation assistance for eligible downtown businesses affected by project sites. Goals and assistance programs do not guarantee that every resident will receive a job or every business will qualify for support.
